Walton gets ISO certificates as cell phone manufacturer

Walton, the leading Bangladeshi brand of electronics and technology products, has received the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certificates as cell phone manufacturer. The ISO certificates in three categories have been given to Walton Digi-Tech Industries Limited which produces Walton brand mobile phone in the country.

Walton is the first and only Bangladeshi mobile phone manufacturing company that achieved the feat. The certificates include: ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System) and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System).

According to sources, Walton Digi-Tech Limited received the ISO certification in those of the three categories for international standard quality product management and high quality occupational health and work environment and factory safety. Europe based United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited AJA Bangladesh Ltd. awarded the certifications to Walton Digi-Tech after a review and inspection of the factory’s overall management systems.

Walton Mobile’s Head of Operations SM Rezwan Alam said that Walton received ISO 9001:2015 certificate on the quality management system for producing and supplying high quality cell phones as per customer demands. He believes that this recognition will be helpful in producing, supplying and upgrading appropriate and quality mobile phones as per the needs of the customers and other partners.

Meanwhile, the country’s first mobile phone manufacturer has obtained the ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System) certificate in recognition of increasing environmental efficiency from the production process of the factory in a systematic way to protect the environment.

Along with the Quality and Environmental Management System, Walton Digi-Tech Limited received ISO 45001:2018 certification for the high-quality professional health and work environment with better security measures. It is a recognition of clean, healthy, risk-free and safe workplace of the Walton factory.

Walton established the country’s first and only mobile phone production factory at the Walton Digi-Tech Industries Limited in Chandra of Gazipur in 2017. Through this giant factory fulfilling the long-cherished dream of ‘Made in Bangladesh’ tag in cell phones.

Walton has manufactured and marketed about 60 lakh mobile phones since its inauguration with 16 lakh smartphones and 44 lakh feature phones. Walton has gained the customers trust by offering international standard handsets with innovative design and attractive features at affordable prices.

Authorities believe that the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ labeled Walton mobile phones will increase the confidence of consumers in home and abrod after obtaining the ISO certificates.
