Unigas introduces 100% propane for gas generators, first time in Bangladesh

Unigas, one of the leading LPG distributors in the country, has successfully operated 100% propane-based gas generators of the famous Waukesha INNIO brand for the first time.

Unitex Group’s concern Unigas is fully prepared to commercially distribute 100% propane.

Over the past two years, Unigas, in collaboration with Dana Engineers (the local distributor of Waukesha INNIO), has conducted extensive research and testing on using 100% propane as fuel for gas-based generators.

This timely innovation is poised to revolutionize the country’s industries by enabling them to utilize propane as generator fuel, ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply and sustaining production during gas shortages.

Currently, natural gas serves as the primary fuel for generators, supplemented by diesel and HFO, which are notably expensive alternatives.

In comparison, Unigas’ 100% propane offers a 30% cost savings over diesel when used as generator fuel.

This propane can be seamlessly integrated into gas-based generators, providing users with the flexibility to store it according to their specific needs.

Unigas has already developed a robust supply system to deliver 100% propane to customers as an alternative fuel for natural gas generators.

They have also ensured an adequate supply of safe and advanced propane road tankers to support this distribution.

Unigas believes its initiative will play a pivotal role in sustaining industrial operations by meeting the energy demand effectively.

To formalize this successful joint venture, on behalf of Unitex LP Gas Ltd., Md. Zobaidul Islam, Director (Operations), Md. Farukuzzaman, Chief Marketing Officer, Md. Kamrul Hasan ACA, Head of Accounts & Finance; Mohammad Anisur Rahman, Head of Operations; and Md. Ashfaq Nabil, Technical Head, were present.

From Dana Engineering International Ltd., Syed Khaled Masud, Chairman; Lt. Colonel Md. Anwarul Islam (Retd.), Executive Director; Sheikh Towhidul Islam, Technical Adviser, and Rehana Parveen, Snr. GM, were also in attendance.

These individuals gathered to solidify the partnership and strategic initiatives between their respective organizations.

Unigas, a concern of the Unitex Group, is part of Bangladesh’s rapidly expanding and diverse conglomerate. The Unitex Group also owns popular brands like Perfect Care Limited.

Established in 1992, the Unitex Group began its journey with spinning and composite companies. Recently, it has made significant investments totaling over Tk 6,500 crore in several noteworthy projects, including HS Composites, Unitex Spinning Mills Unit 2, Grand Spinning Mills Ltd., Unitex Jute Industry, Unitex Steel Mills Ltd., and Sonali Fiber Industries Ltd.

Once these projects are fully operational, they are expected to boost the country’s economy significantly and create substantial employment opportunities.
