Actress Toma Mirza has issued a statement refuting recent media reports suggesting a romantic relationship with director Raihan Rafi, labeling the claims as “misleading” and urging media outlets to refrain from spreading unfounded rumors.
The speculation arose following social media posts depicting Mirza celebrating Rafi’s birthday, leading to renewed public interest in their professional and personal dynamic.
“I am deeply concerned by the spread of misleading and unnecessary rumors regarding my relationship with Raihan Rafi,” Mirza stated in a Facebook post. “As an artist, my primary focus is my work. I am dedicated to my upcoming projects and ask that media outlets respect my privacy and refrain from perpetuating baseless speculation.”
Mirza, a National Film Award-winning actress, has collaborated with Rafi on several successful projects, including the web films “Khachar Bhitor Ochin Pakhi,” “7 Number Floor,” and the film “Surongo.” Their professional relationship has been a subject of public interest, particularly after Mirza’s divorce from businessman Hisham Chishti.
“I have the utmost respect for media outlets that report responsibly and ethically,” Mirza continued.
“I urge all outlets to prioritize accuracy and avoid sensationalizing personal relationships.”
Mirza is currently preparing for the release of Rafi’s web film “Amolnama” and Shihab Shaheen’s film “Daagi,” scheduled for release during the upcoming Eid festival.
