Uber today announced that Sylhet riders have the highest average rider ratings across its cities, as per ratings given by driver-partners. This makes Sylhet, the city with an average rating of 4.89, the best-behaved, as per Uber drivers in Bangladesh. Chattagram is a close second with an average rider rating of 4.84, and Dhaka is in third place, with an average rider rating 4.71. These are also the top three cities for Uber Bangladesh with the maximum number of users, both drivers and riders.
Uber has a two-way rating system where riders and drivers can rate each other out of a maximum score of 5, based on their behavior and overall experience. Recently, for the first time, Uber made it easier for riders to see how their rating is calculated and they can now access a complete breakdown of their ratings in the Uber app’s new Privacy Center. A rider’s rating on the app is an average of the last 500 trips.
Uber believes that riders should have more visibility and transparency regarding their data. They can access the in-app Privacy Center to see the breakdown of their ratings. To access:
● In the settings menu, tap privacy and then Privacy Center
● In the Privacy Center, swipe to the right and click on the “would you like to see a summary of how you use Uber” tile
● Scroll down to the “browse your data” section and tap on “View my ratings” to see the breakdown
Commenting about the new feature and the milestone, Armanur Rahman, Head of Bangladesh & East India, Uber, said “We remain deeply committed to serving the people of Bangladesh with focused market and product innovations, and customer obsession. I am pleased that from now on, all Uber users can access a breakdown of their average rating in the Uber app’s new Privacy Center. You’ll see how many drivers gave you a stellar 5-star rating, how many handed out the dreaded single star, and everything in between. It also underlines the importance of civility when it comes to how Riders and Drivers interact with each other on our platform.”
By empowering riders with this information, Uber hopes to encourage positive interactions between riders and drivers. From conversations with the most engaged driver partners on its platform, the company has put together a list of top 5 things that can help riders improve their ratings.
Tips to Improve Rider Ratings:
1. Be ready: Driver-partners love it when riders are ready to go when they arrive at the pick-up location, and when the location entered is actually where the rider is. Please show respect for your driver partner’s time and don’t leave them waiting.
2. Leave it as you found it: Always make sure to take your belongings and any garbage with you. Don’t leave a mess behind.
3. Treat everyone and everything with respect: We want riders and driver-partners to feel safe, respectful, and positive at all times. Riders should treat their driver and their vehicle as they would want to be treated.
4. Don’t slam the door: It is easy to accidentally slam a door if you aren’t thinking about it, and drivers have consistently cited door slams as a reason why they deduct stars.
5. Be polite and courteous: Respect is a two way street. After the challenging years of the pandemic, we could all benefit from spreading a little cheer and civility. “Hello, how was your day?” can really go a long way.

About Uber
Uber’s mission is to create opportunity through movement. We started in 2010 to solve a simple problem: how do you get access to a ride at the touch of a button? More than 15 billion trips later, we’re building products to get people closer to where they want to be. By changing how people, food, and things move through cities, Uber is a platform that opens up the world to new possibilities.
