TikTok and JAAGO Foundation Raising Mass Awareness On Online Safety

TikTok and JAAGO Foundation recently shared the notable achievements and progress made in the ongoing “Shabdhane Online-A” Campaign, aimed at enhancing awareness regarding online safety among the youths of Bangladesh.

Since the inception of the campaign, impactful workshops titled “Online Safety Adda” have been successfully conducted in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Mymensingh, Sherpur, Netrokona, Jamalpur, Bagerhat, and Narail districts. These workshops, boasting an impressive 100% attendance, centred on educating participants about various security aspects and behavioural nuances in the online domains, particularly within social media platforms. Attendees also gained insights into different tips and tricks for content creation and learned about TikTok’s safety tools designed to enhance user safety within the platform.

The campaign hosted a Divisional Meet-up in Sylhet, titled “Online Safety Summit – Sylhet,” which included a panel discussion with representatives from diverse sectors. The distinguished figures highlighted the benefits of the internet while underscoring the importance of staying cautious. Social media influencer Sakib Bin Rashid’s presence also enriched the discussions. The event was wrapped up with a documentary video on the Online Safety Adda Workshops and testimonial videos from the workshop participants.

To further establish the importance of the cause, a Social and Behaviour Change Communication Video Content was published across JAAGO Foundation’s social media handles. This content emphasised the significance of practising safe and responsible behaviour in the online environment.
In a strategic move to generate widespread awareness, the campaign collaborated with popular social media influencers, who, through their TikTok accounts, are crafting and sharing distinct content to highlight the significance of using social media safely and responsibly and raising awareness regarding TikTok safety tools.

As the campaign progresses, TikTok and JAAGO Foundation affirm their dedication to cultivating a safer digital environment and empowering youth for responsible online practices. The campaign is set to continue until April 2024, extending its workshops to cover all the districts of Bangladesh, including two additional divisional meet-ups in the Mymensingh and Khulna divisions.
