Soroj Mehedi, a researcher and university teacher, has been elected as the chief coordinator of Bangladesh chapter to the 5th World Conference on Media and Mass Communication (MEDCOM-2019), said a press release issued by the Managing Director of the International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Isanka P. Gomez. The conference is scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia on April 5 to 7, 2019. A good number of media experts from different parts of the world including the United States, United Kingdom, China, India and the like are supposed to be gathered at the conference.
Mr Mehedi will perform all the tasks related to TIIKM and MEDCOM-2019 in Bangladesh as a result of this appointment. Anyone willing to participate from Bangladesh can contact Soroj Mehedi and join the conference with a special waiver. Besides, the aspiring candidates, recommended by the co-coordinator, having a good potential may get a full scholarship facilities.
“Media is always my center of attraction. Nearly all the activities in my little span of life are centered on the media. I’m really thrilled to think that I will represent my country in front of world’s best media experts. Hope to work with all my efforts and capabilities as much as possible from my stand”, Mr Mehedi opined.
This Bangladeshi Youth earlier on 16-18 November performed as an executive member of the Commonwealth Youth Summit held at Sunway University, Malaysia this year. Besides, He presented an article at the ‘Mahatma Gandhi International Conference on Multidisciplinary Studies’ which was held in New Delhi from 25th to 28th September.
Soroj Mehedi, a potential Researcher on the rise, has a good number of papers in diverse fields including ‘Autopsy of New Media from Aspect of Social Media’ presented in the Second International Conference on Media Studies, jointly organized by The Beuth University of Applied Sciences-Berlin, Germany, Akdeniz University and Kocaeli University of Turkey in 2016. In the same year, a research paper was published on “The Affect of Indian Pop-Culture on Bangladesh” was published by Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia.
In the year 2007, he presented papers on ‘Role of Youth in Social Movement and Social Media’, and ‘Social Media and It’s Impotence in Modern Era’ at the World Muslim Youth Summit and Exhibition held in Khartoum, Sudan, and in the Third International New Media Conference organized by Gelishim University of Istanbul respectively. Moreover, a paper on “Russia-Turkey Clash and Media in 2015: A Study on Bangladeshi Journalists” has done in collaboration with Professor Dr. Helena Ferdousi, former Chairperson of Mass Communication and Journalism and former Dean of Social Science Faculty of Jagannath University.
Saroj Mehedi, Lecturer of Language, Communication and Culture Department at Gono University started working as a University Correspondent of Daily Ittefaq while studying Mass Communication and Journalism at Jagannath University, Dhaka. While working as a staff reporter of the Daily Jugantor in 2014, he got the Turkish Government scholarship for higher education at Istanbul University. Later, he completed two-credit programs on the European Studies at Pannonia University in Hungary (2016) and the Kadir Has University (2017) of Turkey funded by the European Union.
In February 2018, he returned to the country and joined as a lecturer at the Gono University. Besides, he endeavors as Trainer taking classes at several private institutes. He got an invitation from the Education Ministry of Germany (2017) to join an international symposium funded by the Finance Ministry of Germany in the year 2017. Besides, he has participated in several international programs held in countries including Belgium (2017), Hungary (2016), Austria (2016), Ukraine (2017), Malaysia (2018), Turkey (2014-2018), and India (2018) and so on.
