Six meritorious students of Dhaka University have been awarded scholarship

Six meritorious students of the Islamic history and culture and sociology departments of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded scholarship from three separate trust funds for their outstanding academic performances.

DU vice-chancellor (VC) professor Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed the scholarships among the students at a function held on Thursday at the VC’s lounge of the university.

Islamic history and culture chairperson Prof AKM Golam Rabbani, Prof Ziaur Rahman, associate Prof Mahmudur Rahman and registrar Md Enamuzzaman were present on the occasion with DU treasurer Prof Md Kamal Uddin in the chair.

Congratulating the awardees, Prof Akhtaruzzaman urged the students to become worthy citizen.

“Meritorious students have to play an effective role to make Bangladesh a prosperous country,” he said.

The recipients of Prof Habiba Khatun Trust Fund Scholarship are — Shapla Khatun, Md Rahadul Islam Tanveer and Md Showkat Ali while the recipients of Prof Md Delwar Husain and Raihana Husain Trust Fund Scholarship are — Jalal Uddin and Mousumi Khatun. All of them are the students of DU Islamic history and culture department.

Besides, Raisul Islam Arman, a student of sociology department received Prof Md Delwar Husain Trust Fund Gopalganj Scholarship.
