Shohoz Ride has launched the ‘Safety for All’ campaign to raise awareness for all riders and passengers on road safety. As a part of this campaign, 3,000 helmets are being distributed among the Shohoz riders in association with Runner Automobiles Ltd.
With the increasing number of vehicles on the roads of Dhaka every day, it is crucial for people to be made aware of road safety issues. The number of road crashes and fatalities has drastically increased last year compared to the previous years. Therefore Shohoz, as a socially responsible company, has been earnestly working towards making a considerable impact on road safety issues since its inception.
The ‘Safety Shobar Jonno’ campaign will focus on spreading mass awareness, and it has started with educating Shohoz’s own riders. Along with initiatives like training sessions for the riders, the campaign also involves awareness building among passengers and pedestrians. Shohoz will enforce the use of helmets, and provide 3,000 helmets to riders and pillion-riders jointly with Runner Automobiles Ltd. Shohoz will run the first phase of the campaign with a 16-day activation in top 10 zones in the capital – Gulshan, Banani, Airport Road, Hatirjheel, Mirpur, Dhanmondi, Dhaka University area, Nilkhet, Tejgaon, and Kamalapur.
Speaking on the initiative, Muhaimen Siddiquee, Lead Marketing Manager of Shohoz, said, “Road safety requires education among all, including riders, pillions, and pedestrians alike. We need to be aware of traffic laws and safe driving protocols, and essentially follow through with them. Loss of life cannot be accepted as the price of mobility. We need to create a sustainable impact to improve road safety.”
He further asserted that in order to make the roads safe, the active participation of all people is paramount. “At Shohoz, we always try to give our riders the best training and educate them on proper road etiquette. We also aim to reach a greater mass of people to sensitize them about the safety issues, in order to mitigate calamities caused by road collisions. Therefore, we launched the ‘Safety Shobar Jonno’ campaign.”
Under this campaign, the riders will be instructed on proper road safety protocols, and be made aware of defensive driving, safe overtaking and lane discipline among other things. They’ll be further educated about traffic laws and regulations, and what to do in case of police intervention and violation of traffic laws.
The Marketing Director of Runner Automobiles Ltd., Mr. Amid Sakif Khan said, “Runner Motorcycles has always been at the forefront of the safety and services of motorcyclists and passengers. In order to make everyone aware of this, we have partnered with Shohoz to distribute helmets as a part of the safety campaign.
According to a police report, in the first 10 months of last year, 2,265 people were killed and 1,659 others injured in 2,237 crashes in the country, and the main reasons behind the crashes were irresponsible driving, unfit vehicles, unskilled drivers and lack of awareness.
