Shakib undergoes surgery

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan underwent an immediate finger surgery at Apollo hospital in the capital on Thursday.

Shakib, who was struggling with his finger injury for quite a long time, failed to play the virtual semi-final match against Pakistan on Wednesday and immediately returned home.

However, his condition got worsened by the time he returned home and he was taken to the hospital, where doctors performed an immediate surgery on his left little finger.

‘When I was returning home with having the pains in my hands, I did not realise that there would be such a bad situation,’ Shakib wrote in his verified Facebook page.

‘After coming to the country, due to immense pain and abnormal swelling of the hand, I needed an immediate surgery done in a hospital. 60-70 cm infected pus has to be released from my finger,’ he wrote.

‘Your prayers have saved me from a great danger but I will have to do another surgery quickly. I urge all your prayers. I hope with your prayers and love I can recover quickly and represent Bangladesh team as soon as possible,’ he added.
