Mohammad Rizwan has spent this year like a dream at 22 yards. The 29-year-old Pakistani star opener batter has been showing his outstanding performance whenever he came down to bat. As a result, the Pakistani star batter has been named the ICC Cricketer of the Year this year for his performance.
This year, Rizwan has scored a record 1,326 runs in 29 matches in the T20 format with 12 fifties and one century. No one is close to his side in such a performance with the bat.
Apart from Rizwan, England star wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler, Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and Australian star batsman Mitchell Marsh have also been shortlisted for the award.
Wanindu Hasaranga has done a great job for Sri Lanka throughout the year. The star leg-spinner has taken 36 wickets in 20 T20 matches this year. It can be said that he was one of the leading cricketers for the Lankans.
Mitchell Marsh, who has been shortlisted for the ICC T20 Player of the Year, also played well. The Australian star batsman took part in 21 games and scored 627 runs with the help of 6 fifties. He batted brilliantly in the final to help Australia win the T20 World Cup.
England’s star wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler, who is on the list, was also impeccable this year. He scored 589 runs in 14 matches at an average of 65.44 with the help of one century and five fifties. He also got 13 dismissals in keeping.
The ICC Awards of the Year and the official team will be announced on January 17 and 18.
