Praava Health holds rally on World Family Doctor Day

Praava Health held a rally on World Family Doctor Day on Monday, 19 May at 12pm, starting from Praava Family Health Center in Banani. The rally was attended by Praava Health’s Family Medicine Doctors and Family Health Professionals, along with allied health professionals including nurses and phlebotomists, senior management, and members of the Praava Health’s team, university students, and people from the general community.

Family doctors are specialized in comprehensive healthcare for all ages. A Family Doctor can address 80-90% of medical issues a patient may face. In addition to diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease, Family Doctors also provide routine health checks, immunizations, and counseling on lifestyle changes in an effort to prevent illnesses before they develop. Establishing an on-going care relationship with a Family Doctor means patients have a physician who knows them personally and is familiar with their and their families’ long-term health history and goals.

Praava Health is bringing back the Family Doctor and aims to be the first point of entry for patients into the health system. Praava also promises patients a minimum of 15 minutes of consultation time with Family Doctors.

“A good relationship between a patient and a doctor is crucial for better health outcomes for patients and Praava’s Family Medicine Doctors are working to ensure that for the people of our country” said Praava Health’s Founder, Chairman, and CEO Ms. Sylvana Sinha. “This World Family Doctor Day, we want to raise much needed awareness about the important role of Family Medicine Doctors in our healthcare system.”

“In the short time that Praava has been operational as the pioneer of the concept of family doctors in our country, we have seen a growing number of people coming to see our Family Medicine Doctors, and later also bringing their family members” said Dr. Simeen Majid Akhtar, Senior Medical Director of Praava Health. “This exemplifies the need for family doctors in our healthcare sector which we are working towards.”

“Praava is working relentlessly to establish the proper process for healthcare delivery with family doctors at the center of the system” said Dr. Lt. Col. Md. Kabir Ahmed Khan (Rtd.), Family Medicine Physician at Praava Health. “We treat our patients with the respect and empathy that they rightfully deserve.”
