PM praises Walton products at Industrial Fair

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has visited Walton stall at the first National Industrial Fair-2019. She expressed her satisfaction observing the world-class electronics, electrical and technology products of the local brand. The premier also praised Walton for its initiatives to manufacture the hi-tech products in the country and exporting them after meeting local demands.

The inaugural National Industrial Fair began Sunday (31 March 2019) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in city. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Sunday morning, inaugurated the fair and then visited various stalls.

PM’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, State Minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Secretary Md. Abdul Halim and president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin were among others present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister has beheld various ‘Made in Bangladesh’ products including international standard laptops, mobile phones, refrigerators, air conditioners, rice cookers etc. and praised Walton for producing them in the country. She became glad to know that ‘Made in Bangladesh’ labelled compressors are being exported. She also congratulated Walton for providing mobile phone, fridge and home appliances at affordable prices.

Meanwhile, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi informed the premier that Walton is also producing elevators in the country which she appreciated.

Sharif Harunur Rashid Sony, Deputy Executive Director of Walton Group, welcomed the PM and thanked her for visiting Walton stall. He also briefed the premier about various products of Walton.

He told premier that Walton has shown courage to go for local production of hi-tech products in the country for suitable policies taken by the present government. Bangladesh is now self-reliant in producing those products. The affordable Walton products have reached every corner of the country which make people’s lives easier. Now the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ Walton products are being exported in more than 20 countries in the world.

The first Industrial Fair, participated by almost 300 local industrial entrepreneurs, will run till April 6. Walton has taken part in the large industrial organization category and showcasing electrical, electronics, and technology products including fridge, television, air conditioner, compressor, laptop, computer, mobile phone, elevator, industrial solutions, home and electrical appliances.

The fair is open for visitors from 10.00am to 8.00pm every day.
