Election Commission has allowed carrying mobile phones in voting centres, but on condition that they will not use it inside voting centres Daily star reports.
“Voters can enter polling centre along with their mobile phone set,” the commission’s Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed said in a press briefing today.
“But, voters will have to switch off their mobile phones after entering the centres,” he said at the briefing held at Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon.
He maintained that no motorised vehicles, even private cars, can ply across the country without permission from the Election Commission on voting day.
The secretary said the commission has almost completed its preparations to hold a free, fair and participatory election on December 30.
According to him, ballots and boxes will be reaching the districts by tonight and will be handed over to presiding officers tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow, presiding officers will be carrying the election materials to respective voting centres with armed police guards and stay overnight at the centres.
They will be ready to begin the vote the following day on December 30.
