If you enter Ruplal Das Lane, a cold wind bearing the odour of chillis will tap your nasal passages. Because a numbers of spice warehouses for chilli, turmeric, onion and the like are alongside the lane. A very old house full of twist and turns, named Panchbari, is located in the area. Though the house is dilapidated, locals still dwell in it.
A little sculpture inscribed Dhaka and the word Old made up of bricks are in front of the building. Both pieces of art depict Old Dhaka.
On Friday, Britto Art Trust, an organisation of artists, arranged the art exhibition named `One Mile Square` in sixteen places inside one square mile of Old Dhaka, for enthusiastic viewers.
Forty artists made different kinds of art based on lifestyle, history, culture, and the environment of Old Dhaka.
The exhibition was arranged to make conscious the locals about the relics and ancient history of the old city.
The exhibition was arranged in association with the Arts Collaborator, a Netherlands based organization.
