About 47,803 applications related to National Identity Card (NID) are pending at the field level in different departments. The Election Commission (EC) has directed to dispose of those pending applications within 15 days.
Farhad Hossain, Director of NID branch of EC, sent the instructions to the field-level officers on Thursday.
It said that 30,386 applications of ‘A’ category were ‘Sent Back to Citizen’ and 17,437 applications of ‘Additioner Document Requirement’ are pending. These applications have been pending since 2011 and for a long time thereafter. Therefore, the concerned upazila/police station election officer is requested to dispose of the incomplete applications in ‘A’ category ‘Sent back to citizen’ and ‘additional document required’ within the next 15 working days.
