Bangladeshi laptop maker Doel has announced that it is going to launch new devices soon. The upcoming product list includes a Chrome OS based laptop along with a two in one convertible device that can be used as a laptop as well as a tablet. The devices are in display at the Doel booth in the ongoing ICT Exposition at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka.
The tablet will be powered by Windows 8 and a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. It will have 2 GB RAM along with 64 GB internal storage. Doel also launched a core i5 powered laptop earlier this year. The Advance 1612i3 model has 1.7 GHz core i5 processor, 14″ display, 4 GB DDR3 RAM and is retailing at Tk. 43,000.
The upcoming tablet will retail for Tk. 18,000 while the Chromebook is expected to be pegged at Tk. 14,000. Doel also has a number of other laptops already in the market and a special discount offer is going on as well. Under the offer, three models- Standard 2603, Advance 1612 and 1612E are being sold at a reduced price of Tk. 12,000, Tk. 18,000 and Tk. 18,900 respectively.
The devices can be purchased from any Doel showroom or the Telephone Shilpa Shangstha office in Tongi.
The Doel laptops had generated huge enthusiasm among users when they first came out. However, due to a lack of proper marketing, the interest died down. With these new products in the pipeline coupled with the affordable price tags, the local brand just might be subject to renewed consumer interest.
