The Election Commission has decided to issue national identity card (National ID) to all citizens above 15 years to 17 years of age.
The commission will prepare the updated voter list keeping the citizens who were born before January 1, 2000, Election Commissioner Shah Nawaz told newsmen on Tuesday.
The works of updated voter list will begin soon across the country as per providing national identity cards to all the citizens, Shah Nawaz said.
EC sources said it will begin its voter list update work from the month of July and the data will be collected from citizens in three phases; firstly on 1 July to 15 October, secondly from 1 August to 14 August and thirdly from 1 December to 15 December.
It has been anticipated that the data of around 72 lakh 15 thousand citizens will be added this year.
