Bangladesh ICT Journalist Forum (BIJF), only organizations of media professionals working on technology issue, gets new leadership.
Daily Ittefaq Technology Editor Mojahidul Islam and Daily Samakal Senior Sub Editor Hasan Jakir have got presidency and secretarial portfolios of the organization respectively in the executive council election for the 2019-20 session.
The organizational election commission led-by Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar announced the result on Tuesday. Others commissioners are senior journalists Mahmood Hossain and Mehedi Hassan Palash.
The electoral result was announced at BIJF Secretariat in Karwan Bazar in the capital on Tuesday evening, according to a handout of the organization.
Other executive council members are: Vice President Naznin Nahar (Tech World), Joint Secretary Mostafizur Rahman Shohag (Alokito Bangladesh), Research and Publication Secretary Jannatul Islam Rahad (Daily Sun), Treasurer Enamul Karim (Digital Somoy), Organisational Secretary Haseeb Rahman (Khola Kolom) and Executive members – Mizanur Rahman Sohel (Jugantor) and Rahitul Islam Ruwel (Computer Jagat).
Its may mentioned that, the leading organization of technology journalists announced electoral schedule on December 20 last. According to the schedule, voting day was February 9 and January 16 was last day of nomination submission.
During the timeline, multiple candidates collected nomination paper, however, all the collectors didn’t submitted nomination papers in due time. After scrutinizing the papers of candidates the election commission announced the primary result of the executive council election.
Newly elected BIJF President Mojahidul Islam said: “We will take measurements to strengthen the BIJF from organization ground alongside of professional development of the media professionals in technology domain,” He also sought support from all stakes of the technology industry to make the organization as unique organisations of technology domain.
General Secretary Hasan Jakir expressed his desire to transform the organization as ICT journalist-friendly platform to enhance professional development of the members.
BIJF started its journey in 2005 and now media professionals on technology beat representing country’s leading newspapers and televisions are enrolled with the pioneer platform of technology journalism.
