Beware of walking in the middle road. Mobile courts have been set up to check jaywalking along the main roads of the capital city. Many pedestrians have been fined for crossing roads unlawfully today, Tuesday.
Two mobile courts were active at Hotel Sonargaon intersection and Bangla Motor crossing since 9:00pm, and later, another court operated at Farmgate.
Mobile courts will work round the week along the road stretching from Farmgate to Ruposhi Bangla crossing.
Jaywalkers are being fined between Tk 50 and Tk 200. Besides, there is provision of 6-month jail term for such offence.
A mobile court magistrate, Sarwar Alam, told Prothom Alo 86 people were fined near Sonargaon roundabout by 12:30pm. A rule flouter, Zakir, was sentenced to six-month jail.
