Dr. Khursheduzzaman Mishri Mia Welfare Trust has provided treatment services for various eye diseases including free operations to about 4,000 underprivileged patients of Jamalpur’s Islampur sub-district. Of these, 378 patients had cataract operations and 34 had procedures for enlarged eye muscles and eye canal infections. Additionally, all patients receive free medication.
A three-day eye camp hosted at the city’s Ma Digital General Hospital was attended by 15 skilled medical professionals working under the direction of ophthalmologist Prof. Dr. Hamidul Haque.
Board of Trustee of Dr. Khursheduzzaman Mishri Mia Welfare Trust SM Shahinuzzaman said about this camp, “The people of Char area of this area are deprived of necessary eye care services. The trust aims to free the people of Islampur from blindness by Bangabandhu’s 105th birth anniversary.”
State Minister for Religious affairs Alhaj Md. Faridul Haque Khan MP was the chief guest at the opening ceremony of Eye Camp.
Since 2015, the Dr. Khursheduzzaman Mishri Mia Welfare Trust has been carrying out numerous welfare projects in Islampur. A few of initiatives stand out, like building homes for the destitute, giving goats to the needy to end poverty, and giving youngsters literature about freedom and the liberation battle.
