BNP chief Khaleda Zia has once again called on the Awami League government to sit for a dialogue to hold elections soon.
Terming the current crisis political, she told a press briefing at her Gulshan office on Monday that the government must take a political initiative to resolve the crisis.
“I urge the incumbents to deal with the current crisis politically… I urge them to return the people`s voting rights, which will pave the way for inclusive elections,” the BNP chairperson said.
Khaleda Zia, whose Gulshan office was under siege until Monday, welcomed the government for withdrawing the barricade and police condone around her office.
She refuted the allegations of arson and bomb attacks against the activists of the BNP-led alliance and condemned the killing of the innocent boy in Shibganj, alleging that he was killed by `agents of the AL government`.
Khaleda Zia accused the AL of torching the BNP`s offices, hurling bombs and firing gunshots at their houses.
“But the law enforcement agencies are harassing our leaders and workers without catching the culprits of bomb attacks from the spots,” she added.
The BNP chief, however, made it clear that the ongoing blockade programme would not come to an end until further announcement is made.
“Our peaceful blockade programme will continue,” she said.
