Job fair to be held for the disabled on March 20

As part of the implementation of Digital Bangladesh promised by the government, Bangladesh Computer Council is going to organize “Job Fair 2022” under the leadership of ICT Department to ensure training and employment of persons with disabilities in the field of Information and Communication Technology. The day-long fair has been organized on Sunday, March 20 at Agargaon NGO Affairs Bureau in the capital. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP will inaugurate the fair as the chief guest.
Senior Secretary, Department of Information and Communication Technology N M Ziaul Alam, PAA; Director General, Bureau of NGO Affairs M.K. Tariqul Islam, and CSID Executive Director Khandaker Zahurul Alam will be present as special guests on the occasion.
The fair will be held in collaboration with the Center for Services and Information on Disability (CSID) and the Bureau of NGO Affairs and the BCC’s “Empowerment of All Persons with Disabilities through information technology including IDD” project. Media Quest Bangladesh, one of the well-known PR organizations in Bangladesh, is working as the PR partner in this year’s job fair.
Some employers and organizations in the ICT industry such as BACCO, BASIS, and BCS, FBCCI, CCOAB, e-CAB, WE and NGOs participate in the fair to provide employment opportunities to persons with disabilities trained in it. A significant number of job seekers are provided jobs at the fair based on the computer skills and training of persons with disabilities participating in the fair And some employers include job seekers with a short list of disabled people according to their needs and later offer them jobs subject to vacancies in their organization.
Since 2011, the BCC has been conducting IT training for persons with disabilities with the expert assistance of Shuchona Foundation and CSID. The training is conducted at 7 BCC centers (Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Chittagong, Barisal, Sylhet and Faridpur). Job fairs including ICT training for persons with disabilities, organizing national youth IT competitions, providing assistance in international youth IT competitions and meetings with the various initiatives taken by the ICT department, departmental seminars and campaigns are organized in the educational institutions with the aim of spreading the word among the reputed educational institutions. A project titled “Empowerment of all types of persons with disabilities including NDD through information technology” is currently under implementation from July 2017 to June 2022 to conduct these activities. So far, a total of 1671 persons with disabilities have received ICT training from BCC. In addition, about 2700 more persons with disabilities have been trained under the project. It is to be mentioned that from the job fair organized for the disabled people till 2015, employment has been arranged for more than seven hundred skilled disabled people in ICT.
