E-Visa for Bangladesh will common. India is to introduce electronic visas to Bangladeshi tourists, alleviating the decades-old cumbersome and time-consuming processes that a prospective tourist had to go through in the past. The announcement on the launch of the scheme will be made during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Bangladesh in the upcoming month. The announcement will be made during a ceremony at Dhaka University which the Prime Minister will attend during his visit.
India has already been offering online visa to 45 countries since November last year, culminating to 76 countries to date with China as the latest beneficiary during Modi’s recent visit to China. Bangladesh, one of India’s immediate neighbors, will join a total of 150 countries that India hopes to offer the scheme to within the current fiscal year.

The system will generate the electronic visa within 4 days of the request submission, with which the applicant will be able travel within a 30 day window. The visa will be valid for 30 days from the date of arrival in India and allows a maximum of 2 visits during a single calendar year.
Applicants with at least six months of validity in their passport will be eligible for the visa scheme. The traveler must show that she has a return or onward ticket and has enough money necessary to cover her spending cost during her stay in India. The visa holders may enter India through nine airports, namely, Bengaluru, Cochin, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Trivandrum airports.
Bangladeshis travel to India in the highest number than any other single nationals in the world. Last year, the number of Bangladeshis who traveled to India with a legal visa was 6 lakh 50 thousand. Traveling and sightseeing, visit friends and relatives, medical treatment and business are the primary reasons why Bangladeshis travel to India.
