Huawei’s flagship ICT competition ‘Seeds for the Future 2025’ is open for registration in Bangladesh aiming to develop an ICT ecosystem by enhancing ICT knowledge of students in the country. Undergraduate students can enroll in this flagship program.
This year, the Bangladesh round champion will win Huawei Matebook, while the first runner-up and second runner-up will win Huawei Pad and Huawei Smart Watch, respectively. Furthermore, the top 8 students of Bangladesh round will get a chance to visit China to participate in Tech4Good competition.
The announcement on registration opening has been made at the launching ceremony of ‘Seeds for the Future 2025 Bangladesh’ at Huawei Bangladesh Academy today.
Hon’ble Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Hon’ble Chief Adviser, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology, attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary, Information and Communication Technology Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology, Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counsellor, Chinese Embassy to Bangladesh and Dr. MD. Mohiuddin, Secretary, Ministry of Social Welfare, were present as the Special Guests. Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor, North South University; Professor M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Treasurer, University of Dhaka; Wu Ji, President, Huawei South Asia & CEO, Huawei Bangladesh, along with other high officials of Huawei were also present at the event.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said, “The current interim government is working to formulate national policies for AI, cloud and semiconductors. So, for all those things, we will launch a grand digital transformation master plan. Huawei has a significant market share in telecommunication and ICT. Therefore, it has a role here which can help this transformation. So, I would like to welcome Huawei to engage with more and more universities with AI and digital and computer technology labs, so that our youth can get opportunities in the country.”
Shish Haider Chowdhury said, “Bangladesh is heading towards the digital transformation and in this process of transformation, Huawei is a great and trusted partner of Bangladesh. I congratulate Huawei and China for this wonderful global initiative, which they have taken supporting more than 18,000 plus students and partnering with more than 500 institutions across the world.”
Li Shaopeng said, “I would like to express my graduates to Huawei for its commitment to advancing local talent development and for its outstanding contributions to deepening China- Bangladesh cooperation in the information and the communication technology sector. Huawei has implemented this program for 11 consecutive years with a total of more than 120 outstanding Bangladesh participants receiving training opportunities in China. Many of them have now become leaders in the ICT fields in Bangladesh, and some of them are working for Huawei Bangladesh, contributing to China- Bangladesh cooperation.”
At the inauguration event, Wu Ji, President, Huawei South Asia & CEO, Huawei Bangladesh, said, “Over the years, this program has served as a bridge between global innovation and local potential, providing Bangladeshi students with access to world-class training, cross-cultural experiences, and hands-on practice in advanced ICT fields. Through programs like this, we strive to inspire, equip, and empower them to become future-ready professionals who will lead the digital advancement of the country.”
Undergraduate students in their 3rd or 4th year with CGPA 3.30 can enroll in this competition by sharing their curriculum vitae (CV) along with a recent photograph to sftfbd@huawei.com by May 10, 2025. Their resume should have academic and extracurricular information along with part-time job experiences (if any). They also need to share their interest in telecommunications and technology and the reasons for the interest.
Based CV screening, participants will be initially shortlisted. Selected candidates will then undergo online interviews, followed by 20 hours training on Ai, Cloud, Digital power and many more and a four-day boot camp focused on business and technology. After completing the bootcamp, participants are required to submit a project and prepare a presentation. Through a series of evaluations and pitching sessions, top eight winners from Bangladesh round will be chosen. The eight winners will earn the opportunity to attend the training sessions and T4G competition at Huawei Headquarters in China.
Since its inception in Bangladesh in 2014, the ‘Seeds for the Future’ has provided valuable opportunities for the youth of this country, offering exposure to state-of-the-art technologies and insights from industry experts. The program has made a remarkable global impact, with participation from 141 countries and over 18,000 students directly benefiting from its initiatives.
