At Uber, both riders and driver partners rate each other on a scale of 1 to 5 stars at the end of each trip. Rider ratings are calculated based on all the ratings they have received from driver partners, and, let’s be straight up and honest – everyone loves 5-star riders!
So, how can you become a 5-star rider?
A rider’s rating is displayed right under their name in the app’s menu. Here’s a guide for you to become a 5-star rider and have a wonderful rider experience.
Tip #1:Choose the right pick-up and drop-off points
Ensure your pick-up location is right before you request a ride. You’re likely to get lower ratings if your driver has to keep driving around in search of you. You can either pin your exact location or, type your pick up location and meet the driver at the location you’ve chosen without any hassle.
Tip #2: On time, every time
Time is valuable – both to you and the driver partners. They love it when riders are on time for their pick-up. If you request a ride for a group, then make sure you gather the crew before the ride arrives. Do your last checks before you request your ride to make sure that you don’t waste any time or lose any points.
Tip #3:Safety First
Riders should feel safe and confident that they are getting into the right car with the right driver. Before getting inside the car, always double-check the car model, license plate number, and the picture of the driver.Always wear your seatbelt and don’t try to cram extra people into the car. Follow the GPS route as shown in the app.
Tip #4: Be polite
This might seem obvious, but a little common courtesy goes a long way. It’s surprising how many people forget basic pleasantries like saying hello, please, thank you, and ‘enjoy the rest of your day’. It may seem obvious, but taking a moment to greet your driver is one of the best ways to make a good first impression. Don’t litter inside the car, and clean up after yourself when your ride’s over. This can make a big difference to your driver’s experience, and to your rating.
Tip #5: Pay the final fare shown on the app
Yes, the fare estimate at the time of booking might have been different. But that could be because of a change in destination, tolls, traffic etc. It’s definitely not because of the driver partner. So in case you feel there’s an issue, please reach out to Uber instead of taking it up with the driver.
