In the eastern parts of Bangladesh, devastating floods turned everyday life into a struggle. Heavy rains and water from upstream submerged 77 upazilas, affecting over 5.2 million people. Homes were destroyed, and entire communities were left without power. In the face of this disaster, a heartwarming story of unity and support began to take shape.
When the floods struck, many organizations, NGOs, and volunteers stepped up to help. Among them was ISMARTU Technology BD Limited, whose unique approach to providing aid stood out. ISMARTU’s response was special because it wasn’t just about the company’s donation. They involved everyone, from employees to distribution partners. Employees from all levels donated a day’s salary, and partners from mobile brands like TECNO, ITEL, and Infinix also contributed financially. This collective effort turned ISMARTU’s initiative into a powerful example of how brands can work together to make a difference.
One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that aid reached those who needed it most. ISMARTU utilized its local connections and on-the-ground insights to effectively target overlooked communities. For example, with the help of a local teacher from Abdul Matin Khasru Government College, ISMARTU identified severely impacted areas where relief had not yet reached anyone. Armed with this critical information, ISMARTU’s team ventured into these remote areas to provide essential support.
The company organized the transportation of essential supplies such as food, medicines, clean water, and purification tablets to remote and inaccessible areas. Using boats to navigate floodwaters, ISMARTU reached some of the hardest-hit regions, including Cumilla, Feni, and Laxmipur, demonstrating the effectiveness of meticulous planning and determination in overcoming obstacles.
ISMARTU’s flood relief efforts are a great example of how brands can respond to disasters effectively. By involving employees and partners, using local knowledge to find those in need, and ensuring the aid reaches the right places, ISMARTU set a new standard for corporate social responsibility.
