To find efficient employees in cybersecurity, the competition titled ‘Kaspersky Cyber Security Challenge 2019’, organized by @Bangladesh, has been officially completed for the second time in the country. Bangladesh University’s participating team ‘ESBH’ has been crowned as the champion for identifying 16 out of 340 bugs, during the day-long competition held at Daffodil International University in the capital last Sunday. The winning team members are Mahmudul Hasan Hriday, Amit Hassan. ‘Error Squad Bangladesh’ team of Pabna Polytechnic secured second place with the same number of identified security flaws. The members of the team are Priyal Islam, Alvarez Naim, Tasdi Ahmed. Center for Technology Transfer’s Team ‘302’ identified 12 bugs and secured third place. The members of the group are Asif Hossain and Russell Bhuiyan. All members of the champion team received laptops as winning the prize, the first runner-up team received smartphones and the second runner-up team received tablet PCs in the contest. They also received crest and certificates. Foreign experts along with Bangladeshi experts in cybersecurity judged the contest.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Telecommunication and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar said, “Bangladesh was far behind in terms of technology, but that has changed. In Bangladesh, the number of Internet users in the country was 8 lakh in 2008 which no is 10 Crore. 80% of people use the Internet on mobile. We will bring 5G within the year 2021. So everyone should be aware of Internet Security. That is why everyone has to come forward to participating in this kind of competition.”
Mr. Abdullah H Kafi, the President of the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) attended the grand finale as the Chief Guest. Md. The activation program began at Barisal University from December 10. Activation activities were completed in more than 10 universities in Dhaka, including Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Comilla. Out of which 250 teams registered and 50 teams participated in the grand finale of the competition. The conclusion of the competition and the award-giving ceremony was held at the Dhanmondi campus of Daffodil International University on Sunday, December 29This year’s main competition was focused on web vulnerability assessment. Competitors also had the opportunity to earn money by participating in the Kaspersky Bug Bounting Program.
