Dr. Asif Naimur Rashid, a distinguished professional with extensive expertise in business and technology, has been appointed as the Independent Director to the Board of Sonali Bank PLC, the largest state-owned bank in Bangladesh.
His appointment is set to bring valuable insights and strategic direction to the institution as it continues its journey toward modernization and excellence.
Currently, Dr. Rashid is serving as the Chief Business Officer (CBO) at Grameenphone, the country’s leading telecommunications service provider, where he is playing a pivotal role in driving business growth and digital transformation. His leadership has been instrumental in fostering innovation and aligning business strategies with technological advancements.
Dr. Rashid expressed his enthusiasm upon joining Sonali Bank PLC as the Independent Director. He said, “I am delighted to take on this role and contribute to the esteemed institution. He holds a Doctoral degree in Artificial Intelligence from California Southern University, USA; a Master of Business Administration (Executive Management) from Royal Roads University, BC, Canada; a Master of Engineering Studies (Telecommunications Engineering) from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia; and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics & Electronics from Dhaka University, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
