Nagad, one of the country’s leading mobile financial service providers, has introduced a specialised account as directed by the government, with a view to facilitating easy contributions to the state relief fund for flood victims.
Unlimited donations can be made via this newly launched merchant account (01886969859).
Following directives from the office of Mr. Nahid Islam, advisor to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this MFS provider of Bangladesh Postal Department has launched this merchant account to collect relief funds. Donations can be made from any Nagad account to this merchant account without any charges.
Donors can easily make contributions via the Nagad app or by dialling *167#, with the funds directly being deposited into the government’s relief fund.
Moreover, more than 50 charitable organisations, such as As-Sunnah Foundation, Mastul, Sajida Foundation, and Obhizatrik, are collecting donations for flood victims through Nagad.
Recently, Bangladesh’s southeastern region has experienced one of the most severe floods in history, leaving millions of people grappling with shortages of food and water.
The government has taken extensive measures to support these affected individuals. Those interested can contribute to the government’s relief fund.
Meanwhile, the daily and monthly transaction limits for Nagad have been increased – beyond the usual government and private donation efforts.
Following the advisor’s directive, Nagad promptly opened the special account for donation collection.
Moreover, the increase in the transaction limits, beyond promoting donations by private charitable organisations, provides some relief to Nagad customers.
