Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch has arrested former Minister of Culture Asaduzzaman Noor from Nawraton Colony on Bailey Road at 11:00 PM on Sunday night. Noor, a prominent cultural figure and a member of the Awami League, has been named as an accused in a case filed at Mirpur Police Station.
Noor has represented the Awami League in Parliament since 2001 and was elected as the Member of Parliament for Nilphamari-2 in the recent 12th National Parliament elections. He served as Minister of Culture from January 12, 2014, following the Awami League’s victory in the 10th National Parliament elections on January 5, 2013.
Further details regarding the case and Noor’s arrest are pending as the investigation continues.
