E-government ‘Budget Module’ to ease budget complexity

Budget Module, one of the major modules of e-Government ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), will help ease budget complexities in both government and private organisations in the future.

“Facing all challenges, the budget module software is being developed, which is unique than any other analog budget software. This will help the respective organization take further decision, save time and cost”, executive director of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Partha Pratim Deb said.

He was presiding over a review workshop styled “Software Requirements Specification (SRS) on Budget Module” at a2i (Access to Information) conference room at ICT tower on Thursday.

Among others, e-government ERP project director Dr Ashok Kumar Roy spoke on the review workshop.

The purpose of budget module is to easing budget preparation and budget projection using the previous year’s budget data, automated calculation of budget variance, easier expenditure reconciliation and dissemination of budget-related information quickly through web-based system.

Experts at the meeting hoped that the new module would be used as a tool for deciding which activities will be chosen for the future both in government organizations as well as in an autonomous organization.

BCC executive director Partha Pratim Deb said that “Undoubtedly I’m very happy today, facing all challenges we are continuously achieving success in developing the software. This is a unique software that is upgraded version and different than any other analog version”.

“In future, for office automation, it plays a key role for resource atomization and reduces cost and time”, he added.

Project director Ashok Kumar Roy on the workshop said, “This new software module will help take faster decisions and implement any project as earliest as possible. This will save both money and time, and at the same time it will encourage the country’s local software companies to develop international standard software and reducing foreign dependency”.

“When the software will use in any budget preparation, it will bring more transparency and accountability”, he hoped.

It will help prepare estimates of future project expenses and incomes, preparing estimates of future cash expenses and disbursements, preparing estimates of the future day-to-day activities of the organization and summarizing these estimates into a statement and balance sheet.

The government is working to develop modern technology-based software to conduct official work of different ministries and departments easily and smoothly.

In this regard, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the Information and Communications Technology Division has taken a project titled ‘e-Government ERP’.

BCC is developing ERP software. Out of nine modules of the main software, four modules in the beta version have been completed so far. The four modules include — Meeting Management, Inventory, Asset Management, and Procurement.

In the review workshop, among others, the attendees were additional director and also project director of Info Sarkar 3rd Phase Dr Bikorno Kumar Ghos, deputy secretary of ICT division Md Monirul Islam, joint secretary of CCA Shirin Sultana, developer organization Cokreates’s representatives, developers of Synesis IT, nominated consultants and representatives from a2i, BUET.
