JoBike is a mobile application which enables users to find bicycles for use on a temporary basis. After downloading application users will have to open an account and then by scanning the QR code they can easily unlock the bicycles for use.
The service began ‘test run’ through opening registration for students at teachers at a function at Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU), said a news release,
Jobike introduced the service called ‘DU Chakkar (Circular)’ for students, teachers and officials of Dhaka University in association with DUCSU authorities.
Jobike Chief Executive Mehedi Reza said Dhaka University operation set another benchmark for app-based bicycle services in the country.
Students will enjoy first five minutes at Tk 2.5 while the following minutes will be counted at Tk 0.40 rate, added Mehedi.
DUCSU student transport secretary Shams-E-Noman said the students began registration on Monday and the university authorities will launch the service officially after review challenges.
There are installed bi-cycle stands at every dormitories, Teachers and Students Centre, Curzon Hall, Arts Faculty, Business Faculty, Social Science Bhaban, and Central Library premises in the university.
Officials informed that students, teachers and other staffs can register with the services using their valid identity card.
Its may mention, Jobike started operation in January last year from Cox’s Bazar and the service expanded in Jahangirnagar University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Chattogram University and Mirpur DOHS before on-boarded Dhaka University.
