BASIS, Canadian High Commission and CanCham will work together to explore business and investment opportunities of Bangladeshi IT sector in the Canadian market. There will be a bi-lateral dialog between the organizations very soon. Mr. Shameem Ahsan, President of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), said this while he was attending a seminar on IT Infrastructure and e-Commerce in the “Canada Showcase 2015”, a trade fair organized by Canadian High Commission and Canada Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CanCham).
Mr. Shyama Prasad Bepari, Joint Secretary of ICT Division presided over the seminar where the High Commissioner of Canada Mr. Benoit Pierre Laramee was also present. Mr. Laramee mentioned that Bangladesh and Canada has a good bi-lateral business relation and the trade between the two countries is worth over US$ 2 billion. He also added that the two countries will work together to develop this further.
Mr. Russell T. Ahmed, Senior Vice President of BASIS presented an elaborated Presentation on the present situation of ICT Infrastructure and e-Commerce in Bangladesh. “The Development of e-Commerce in Bangladesh is quite fast compared to some of the top countries in the World and very soon we will see a revolution in the ICT and e-Commerce sector of Bangladesh due to this”, he added.
Mr. Masud Rahman, President of CanCham, Mr. Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor of a2i Program, Mr. Don Joyce, Vice President of Sogema Technologies Inc., Mr. Mostofa Rafiqul Islam, Chairman of Flora Telecom were also present at the seminar.
