BASIS, the national trade body for IT/ITES in Bangladesh, is going to organize “BASIS Outsourcing Award 2015” for the 5th time. 100 individuals and companies will be awarded as the recognition of their contribution in the outsourcing scenario in Bangladesh. The awards will be given in different categories such as companies with potentials, individual freelancers, female freelancers and district level freelancers.
A press conference has been arranged this Thursday at BASIS Board Room to announce the details of the program.
The President of BASIS Mr. Shameem Ahsan presided over the press conference where Mr. Shah Imraul Kaeesh, the convener of BASIS Outsourcing Award and Treasurer of BASIS, Mr. Md. Arfan Ali, DMD of Bank Asia were also present.
Mr. Russell T. Ahmed, Senior Vice President of BASIS, Mr. M Rashidul Hasan, Vice President, Mr. Uttam Kumar Paul, Secretary General, and Mr. Sami Ahmed, Executive Director of BASIS were also present in the program among others.
BASIS President Mr. Shameem Ahsan said that there is no alternative to ICT in driving Bangladesh from a middle income to a developed country gradually. A huge volume of IT skilled manpower is required for this. BASIS is taking a number of initiatives including IT trainings to create this huge number of IT skilled professionals in the country. BASIS Outsourcing Award has been given from the year of 2011 as a continuation of this to encourage outsourcing and to growth of the success of the people related to this profession. We are emphasizing not only on the freelancing profession but also export earnings. We hope that the number of professionals in outsourcing will be increased by the awareness created by BASIS outsourcing award and their incomes will add a different dimension to our economy as well. Bangladesh will become a developed country within the next 15-20 years through this.
Mr. Shah Imraul Kaeesh, convener of BASIS Outsourcing Award 2015 presented the achievements of the previous years and the plans and strategies of BASIS Outsourcing Award 2015. He added that BASIS has been giving this award to encourage the freelancers and to make young people interested about freelancing. 100 awards in total will be given this year like the other previous years. 64 freelancers for the 64 districts will be awarded to spread out freelancing through the country. 18 professionals too will be awarded in 6 categories ( Web Application Development, SEO and Online Marketing, Web Design, Graphics Design, Online Blogging and Mobile Application) 3 from each categories and 3 from female category will also be awarded. Besides, 15 companies will also be awarded for the outstanding contribution to freelancing sector.
