Banglalink sponsors ‘Bijoy Dibosh Nouka Baich Protijogita 2014’ in Hatirjheel, Dhaka, today, 16th December, 2014. This is the first ever full scale boat race in the Heart of Dhaka.
Rivers form an integral part of Bangladesh`s history, tradition, literature, culture and sports. Boat race consequently, is an important element of our culture and tradition. Different districts organize different types of boats for races.
Bangladesh Rowing Federation is the partner of Banglalink for organizing this event. Since the inception in 1974, this organization is continuously trying to uphold Boat Race as one of our mainstream cultural activities of Bangladesh. To encourage this sport, every year many colorful boat racing competitions are been organized. Banglalink has sponsored a number of boat races throughout the nation at different times of the year. Among these boat races, Banglalink Victory day Boat Race Competition 2014 is considered as one of the biggest and prestigious races of Bangladesh.
This event was a conference and reunion for mass people of Dhaka Division and the nation at large, where audiences from all age, race and religion came to enjoy the program. It was organized by Bangladesh Rowing Federation and for the First time Banglalink sponsored this event.
Present at the event as chief guest was Shri Biren Sikder MP, State Minister Youth and Sports and Haji Advocate Mollah Mohammad Abu Kawser, President, Bangladesh Rowing Federation; Sharfuddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Head of PR & Communication, Banglalink; Iftekhar Azam Shafin, PR & Communication Manager, Banglalink were present at the event as special guest. The event was presided over by Hazi Md. Khorshed Alam, Senior Vice President, Bangladesh Rowing Federation and Executive Member, Bangladesh Olympic Association.
Speaking to occasion Sharfuddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Head of PR & Communication, Banglalink, said, “Boat racing is one of the most important cultural symbols in our country, and banglalink’s regular patronage of it, as we have shown over the years over a number of events is part of our endeavor to promote and encourage local culture and tradition. Today’s Bijoy Dibosh Nouka Baich Protijogita will reinforce our commitment towards the traditional cultural arena on the nationalistic platform.”
