Devastating flash floods in the country’s southeastern and eastern regions have severely impacted lives and livelihood across Cumilla, Noakhali and Feni regions.
Recognizing the importance of uninterrupted communication during such crises, innovative digital operator Banglalink has extended support to the flood victims through complementary talk time and internet.
Heavy rainfall and water runoff from upstream regions caused rivers to overflow, submerging homes, roads and farmlands in the low-lying areas. Thousands of people are currently stranded amidst the flood, facing extreme challenges with transportation and livelihood. Concerns regarding food security are also on the rise. Despite consistent initiatives to provide relief and ensure safety, the situation remains critical with ongoing rainfall.
Banglalink users in the flood-affected regions of Cumilla, Noakhali and Feni can utilize 10 minutes of talk time and 500MB internet with 3 days validity, free of charge. Eligible customers of flood affected areas will receive detailed information about the offers, its benefits, and the activation process through SMS notifications. This initiative is taken to enable flood-stricken victims to contact their loved ones or seek assistance seamlessly during such trying times.
Gazi Towhid Ahmed, Head of Corporate Communications of Banglalink, said, “Thousands of people are now in distress due to the ongoing floods. As a socially responsible organization, Banglalink is proactively taking initiatives to make communication more accessible for the victims. Through uninterrupted talk time and internet, we hope to eliminate any remaining communication barrier and stand by the people.”
