To solve the most citizen centric 10 challenges of Bangladesh, “National Hackathon on Frontier Technologies” is going to be organized with the slogan “Think. Hack. Solve.”. Under the ICT Division, “Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA) project” with its Startup Bangladesh banner in association with “High Commission of India in Bangladesh” and “Tech Mahindra Limited (TechM)” are organizing this Hackathon. ICT division is working to form a startup culture in the ICT sector in Bangladesh under the proper guidance and supervision of the Hon’ble State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP. This is the continuation of this hackathon.
The university campaign of the hackathon was held today, January 18, 2020 (Saturday) in Chittagong Division. The Hon’ble member of University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) Professor Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain was the chief guest and Syed Mojibul Huq, Director (Additional Secretary) of iDEA project was the special guest of the program. The program was presided by Prof. Dr. Taufique Sayeed, Dean, Faculty of Science & Engineering of Premier University, Chittagong.
The chief guest Professor Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain said that Human Resources is a great asset for any country. If it can be used properly, it is possible to transform the country into a developed country shortly. The talent and strength of the young genration should be engaged for the development of the country. Therefore, he urged the youth to come forward to build a developed Bangladesh.
As a special guest, Syed Mojibul Huq, Director (Additional Secretary) of iDEA said that the 4th industrial revolution was opening a new path for our younger generation. In the meantime, our young people are showing the extreme ability to innovate and use new technology. Now, we need to take the right planning and build a startup culture for our nation. Finally, it will be possible to form a knowledge-based society very soon. He also encouraged all the young people to take part in solving the most citizen centric 10 challenges of Bangladesh by participating in this hackathon.
The program was presided by Prof. Dr. Taufique Sayeed, Dean, Faculty of Science & Engineering of Premier University, Chittagong. He thanked to ICT Division for keeping the Premier University with this initiative. He also expressed his gratitude for organizing such event with the youth. In the future, the Premier University will be on such initiatives and at the same time, he expressed interest in working with the government for the development of the ICT sector.
After the guests’ speech, the project’s senior consultant R . H. M. Alaol Kabir gave a presentation on hackathon. Later on, the youngsters attended the Hackathon Q&A session. The campaign was attended by more than three hundred students inlcluding university teachers, officials and prominent people of the area.
